I'm sorry that you haven't had good French food. I'd start with something simple like a croissant with fruit preserves.

There's quite a bit of French cuisine influence in American food. Many sauces, for example, were originally French.

Below is a list of books (sorry, I couldn't find a website):

* American Cooking: The Melting Pot, James P. Shenton et. al

* American Food: The Gastronomic Story, Evan Jones

* Eating in America, Waverly Root & Richard de Rochemont

* Taste of American Place, Shortledge & Shortledge

You like french fries don't you? Allot of french food is very leaning to American. and yes some is very different. I was born in France you have to know what to ask for but they do have a great deal to offer in food that you may enjoy.

I was born and live In France and If you don't have enough brains to understand that some people may have more cultural adaptations to the other GOOD foods in this world, then....Wel...Go eat a hotdog.

Because some people are more cultured than the average American, believe it or not.
