Yep tasted both, frogs legs and snails.
Frogs legs - similar texture to chicken, it was a bit dry, the flavour was like chicken fried in some kind of fishy oil. I won't bother wasting my time or money on them again.
Snails - texture like rubbery oysters, they were cooked in so much garlic There wasn't really any other identifiable flavour just watery garlic rubbery jelly. The thought of it was too gross, again, I won't bother wasting my time or money on them again.
I think - these foods are thought of as a delicacy, but if you think about the whole concept of eating beef or lamb or fish or chicken or vegetables, why / what motivation would people have to be eating these things which at first glance appear totally unappetising?
I guess the first people to eat these things must have been pretty darn hungry, probably hungry due to some tyrant living the high life while the peasants live on the leftovers. Then some smartie pants decided to name it as a delicacy to rob the rich, or make fun of the rich.
But try it for yourself, have fun, have a laugh. The snails I tasted with a very pretty young lady on a date, and the frogs legs I tried with a different lovely young lady on a date. I haven't spoken to either of them for about a decade now, but there are some fond memories.
Good luck
